I've been doing this for years. I'm one who exercises quite regularly but not everyday. I don't want to get stale or bored with it. I do my exercises because I want to, not because I have to.
So on the rare day that I don't do them I put a big black X with a felt marker on my calendar. This has always served to motivate me to exercise, as I don't like seeing 2 black X's together.
This month so far I have 5 X's, and probably will have 1 more before the month is up.
